Twas The Night Before Campo…

And all through the hotel, every creature was stirring trying to do all the last minute things: one last meal, one last shave, one last shower, one last night’s rest in a bed.

The last supper.

The hour is almost upon us. Before we took off at 6:45 a.m. this morning, we finished prepping our resupply packages. On the drive down, I received my entry to Canada permit. Once we hit El Cajon (where we are staying for the night) we divided up food for the next couple of days and filled up on water. Only one thing left to do: hike the Pacific Crest Trail.

64 days worth of food in 12 small boxes.

It is beyond crazy to me that I am actually going to embark on this adventure. It has been months of discussion, planning, training. Now it is the eve of Day 1 and my nerves are kicking in. The anxiety is at it’s peak, and all I want to do is take that first step onto the trail and begin this expedition.
As I lay down in my bed to enjoy one last night’s sleep, I will take a moment to stop and enjoy every part of this journey. And admire, for one of the last times, how beautiful my feet are; after this, they may be forever changed. Just like me.

Until next time. ➡️&⬆️
